Fitness Professionals should take their own advice to build a better business

April 25, 2022

Sometimes as Fitness Professionals we need to take our own advice. The things we say to our clients can also be great advice when we’re trying to build our businesses.

In fact, it’s a useful thought experiment.

Are you facing a seemingly insurmountable problem? Pretend it’s not you, but a close friend who’s facing this problem. What advice would you give?

This thought experiment allows us to remove emotion from the decision so we’re not ‘too close to the problem’. It allows us to take a logical approach to problem solving.

But how can this make us a better Fitness Business owner?

Let’s look at what is probably the most common advice we give to our clients. The importance of consistency. The importance of turning up day after day and doing the basics well.

Because face it, most of our client know what they should be doing to be healthier. It’s actually not that complicated. But knowing we should do something and actually doing that thing are very different.

Running a business is the same. It doesn’t have to be that complicated. The basics aren’t complex.

But to consistently execute on these basics – now there’s a problem.

What advice would you give to a client? How can you use that same advice to ensure that the basics of running a business are regularly and consistently executed?
