Patella Tendinitis

Patella tendinitis is an overuse injury characterised by the inflammation of the tendon attaching the kneecap to the tibia (shin).

 

Patella tendinitis is caused by overuse. Usually this results from too many ballistic movements, especially jumping.

Malalignments  in the hips, knees, ankles and feet can increase the risk of patella tendinitis.

 

  • Lower limb flexibility
  • Lower limb strength (especially inner range quads)
  • Balance, proprioception and knee stability
  • Pelvic stability
