The time taken for injury recovery

– Now, most people don’t realise how long it actually takes to recover from injury, how long it takes for our body to repair itself. So this is a process of 24 months, of two years, from onset of injury from the event, through to almost full recovery. And what you can see here is that things start to happen within 30 minutes. Things start to happen to your blood, to your cardiorespiratory system, to your pulmonary system. Things start to change to help with this injury response. We don’t need to go into the details on this, because it’s not overly practical from the point of view of what we need to do about injuries. This inflammatory response starts from about 30 minutes, and you can see that, as this process goes, even up here around three, six, 12, 24 months, we still don’t have full return of tissue strength. So most people perceive injuries as, it doesn’t hurt anymore. I’m back to full strength. This can take a long time, so you have to be patient with this process.
