– [Instructor] The problems in attention come from the fact that our type of focus is inappropriate for the task that we are doing. So, there are four types of attention. There’s a broad attention. So lets use the example of a sport-like like Nepal. A broad attention is an awareness of many factors. The crowd, you’re coach, your oppositions, your teammates. A lot of stuff going on. A narrow focus is aware of a few factors. So if you’re a centre in Nepal, and you have to know everything that’s going on around you, and you’re also the captain so you’ve got to be aware of strategy and leading your team. You need to have a broad focus. If you’re shooting for goals, then all that matters is you, the net, and a defender. All that other stuff is superfluous, it doesn’t matter. You look at Tee ball, you can have quite a narrow focus, because the ball is here, you hit it. If you look at the same gross motor pattern in baseball, your attention needs, that bubble needs to expand. External. Attention on stuff that’s outside, the strategy, the placement of players, Internal. Your thoughts and your feelings, and an awareness of your self core. Like I said, problems with your attention are caused by an inappropriate focus. So a kid whose got learning difficulties and who can’t focus at school, their attention is out here, when it should be here. That’s what causes the attentional problem. And the same thing would apply to you guys. And there either internal or external.
