Going to failure to build strength

– The final set of each, I would do some max reps. And have an extra minute rest between your last and your second last there. I would go for max reps in that final set. It does two things. Firstly, it makes sure that if you’ve gone too light with your weight selection, you’re still getting good overload, good work. And secondly, if you can do, if you can do six back squats in your final set, you’ve probably gone too light. Perfect world, you fail the sixth rep at the end there. It tells us that that weight was spot on. Now, obviously, technical failure here. Don’t go to the point where your form falls apart, ’cause that’s not helping anyone. Final set for max reps. Record that, it’ll help give you some clues as to what weight you should be doing next time.
